@zakeno oh that’s a good take! I was thinking that the monsters are how we the audience originally would see the two older kids (at the beginning with no context). If we were watching a film about two older kids meeting a little kid in the woods, we would think that the little kid should be afraid of them, especially when the green one is trying to scare them away. It is really jarring that the little kid is not afraid of the “monsters”
